Big Trouble With ‘Big Penis’: Online Sex Supplement Could Be Dangerous

It’s not the size of the boat, but the motion of the ocean. It’s not the size of the hammer, but how you wield it. Men might want to keep these euphemisms in mind before reaching for ‘Big Penis.’

Big Penis, currently marketed as a “male sexual stimulant,” has some big problems. According to U.S. regulators, the supplement contains undeclared sildenafil, the active ingredient in the little blue pill commonly known as Viagra.

While Viagra is certainly effective (the stats back that up, as do the surging sales numbers behind the world-famous brand’s success) it looks like Big Penis is attracting some serious attention as well. American regulators are now warning potential buyers away from the supplement, which is easily purchasable online without a doctor’s prescription.

And that’s the problem, actually.

Viagra and other prescription drugs designed to help men having trouble attaining full mast are usually prescribed by doctors, and these physicians are much more familiar with who should be taking these pills and who shouldn’t be. Part of the reason there is so much anxiety over black- or gray-market erectile dysfunction pills is that many of the patients who use them off-label (or on doctor’s orders) also have heart conditions.

Viagra and Big Penis, both containing sildenafil, have a direct influence on blood pressure throughout the body. In fact, that’s exactly how the drug works. However, this massive change in blood pressure can have deadly consequences for some men who also struggle with heart disease or other pulmonary concerns. In a recent interview with DailyMail.com, urologist Dr. Premal Patel of the University of Miami made the case clear.

“We are learning more and more than erectile dysfunction could be a harboring of cardiac problems in the future,” said Dr. Patel. “The same blood vessels providing blood to the heart [provide blood to] the penis.”

As it turns out, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is so concerned over the popularity and proliferation of Big Penis pills that they have set up an interactive form for those who have had negative interactions with the male sexual supplement. In a warning issued last week, one with a stern headline reading “Public Notification: Big Penis contains hidden drug ingredient,” the FDA made it clear that Big Penis contains a sizable amount of sildenafil, and that this unadvertised ingredient could have some mortal consequences for those who take the pill.

That being said, there is also a danger that the increase in Big Penis’ profile and the fact that the world now knows that it contains sildenafil at a much less expensive price point could spur even greater sales of the product.

In any event, if you feel like you need some help from a supplement, it’s always best to consult a professional medical expert before popping any new pills – prescription or otherwise. That is, if you value your health.
